Fix Your Toy Story RC Car Lag: Step-by-Step Repair Guide (With Photos!)
As a dedicated Toy Story enthusiast who frequently repairs collectible RC cars, I’ve restored over 5 Toy Story Limited Edition Remote Control Vehicles. These iconic cars, mostly produced around 2009, are now 15 years old and officially discontinued. Through my repair experience, the most common issue I’ve encountered is the failure of the retractable/extension steering wheels located at the car’s underside, which often causes mechanical jamming.

Disassembly: Remove all screws from the car’s underside, then carefully separate the bottom shell. Position the car upside-down (belly facing up) as shown in Figure 1.
Diagnosis: Locate the two limit switches responsible for detecting wheel retraction/extension. Use a multimeter to test these switches – if they show continuity issues (failing to connect or staying permanently closed), they require replacement.
Replacement: Install new switches of identical model/size, then solder the wires to complete the repair.
